Event Details

Join us for a family friendly telescope viewing of the moon!

NASA’s Observe the Moon Night is an annual celebration to come together and observe the moon. In this session we will explain the basics of how to use a telescope, and then spend time observing the moon. Kids will also have the chance to make a moon phase’s calendar.
Bookings are per family and are suitable for children aged 10-14 years.
Groups are welcome to bring their own picnic rugs, chairs, snacks, and drinks. Groups are also highly encouraged to bring a tourch.

Important Information:
Adults are required to accompany children and remain present at all times. It is the accompanying adult’s responsibility to ensure that children remain on the grassed area with the group at all times. Please note the grassed area will be dark and is adjacent to a road and train track.
As this is an outdoor event, please remember to wear suitable, warm clothing. Toilet facilities will be unavailable during this session.
In the case of bad weather, the event will be moved to inside the library with space-based activities in place of a telescope viewing.

This event will take place a short walk from Brighton library, on the grassed area on the corner of Torr Avenue and Keelara Street.

Presented by the City of Holdfast Bay Libraries.
